Before I started on the subject, Food and Nutrition, I was clueless about the different types of food and their nutritional values.

I had always the misconception that all fats found in food are harmful to our health. However, after going through F&N, I realised that certain types of fat are in fact essential for a healthy body. For instance, fats found in fish like salmon or codfish is a significant source for healthy brain development.

I also learnt that though our body needs nutrients like protein and vitamins, any excess of them is however, detrimental to it.

The way we cook our food plays a part in how nutritions it turns out to be. If the food is overcooked, certain nutrients will be lost.

Food and Nutriton has helped me to overcome one of my phobias-using the stove. I used to fear going near a stove, let alone lighting it up. However, as I need to cook, as part of my syllabus, I have no choice but to overcome my fear. I guess the fear for the teacher is greater than that for the stove!

Finally in a nutshell, F&N has taught me not only about how our health is related to our food intake but also enabled me to overcome my fear of the stove to create delicious and nutritions dishes for my family
